Rainfall Outlook
The Rainfall Forecast for South Sudan indicates:
- High probability of 55% for Above-Average rainfall in the Southern parts of Central and Eastern Equatoria States and Northern Lakes State during March to May2026 Season.
- A Probability of 45% for Near to Average (normal) rainfall over southern to eastern parts of Eastern equatorial state, much of central Equatoria State; Southwest to Northern Western Equatoria; Southeastern Western Bhar el Ghazal; much of Lakes and Warrap States; South of Unity States, Northern Jonglei, South to Southeast of Upper Nile State.
- A Probability of 40% for Average (normal) rainfall over Western parts of Western Equatoria; Northwest of Eastern Equatoria; Southern Jonglei and much of Pibor Administrative Area. And central Upper Nile State.
- Drier (Climatologically dry) Conditions in the Northern part of South Sudan
- Normal Onset of Rains in many parts of the country during MAM2026 Season
- Dry spells may occur in areas predicted to receive Above-normal rainfall and Wet spells may also be experienced in areas expected to receive Normal rainfall
